Morning Prayer
Join us for Morning Prayer at the Newman Center as we come together to pray the Liturgy of the Hours, a beautiful tradition of the Church that sanctifies each part of the day through prayer. In the peaceful glow of candlelight, we reflect on Scripture, psalms, and hymns, uniting our voices with the prayers of the universal Church. This quiet time of reflection helps us center our hearts and minds, offering the first moments of our day to God, as we seek His grace and strength to carry us through the day ahead. All are welcome to share in this serene and uplifting spiritual experience.
Disciples
The Disciples meeting at the Newman Center is an enriching gathering of Cal Poly Humboldt students who are eager to deepen their faith and learn how to share it with others. As part of the Evangelical Catholic program, the Disciples focus on becoming more intentional in their personal relationship with Christ while developing the skills to evangelize in their daily lives. Each meeting includes prayer, scripture reflection, and practical training on how to bring the Gospel to others with compassion and confidence. Through discussions, role-playing, and group exercises, participants grow in their ability to live and spread the Catholic faith on campus and beyond. All students are welcome to join this dynamic and faith-filled community.

Newman Choir Rehearsal
The Newman Choir rehearsals are a time for Cal Poly Humboldt students and community members to come together in song and prepare for the beautiful liturgies at the Newman Center. Using the Source and Summit hymnal, we explore both traditional chants and contemporary hymns that elevate the Mass and deepen our worship. Rehearsals focus on vocal technique, blending harmonies, and understanding the sacred texts we sing. Whether you're an experienced singer or new to choir, all are welcome to join us in creating a prayerful, musical atmosphere that draws the community closer to God through the power of sacred music.
Adoration and Confession
Adoration and Confession at the Newman Center is an opportunity to deepen your faith and connect with God in a profound way. Adoration is a practice in the Catholic faith where we spend time in quiet prayer and reflection before the Blessed Sacrament, the Eucharistic presence of Christ. It’s a chance to pause from the busyness of life, find peace, and experience God’s love in the silence.
